FINAL NIGHT

6pm came as cars began rolling down the long dusty drive, silk flags glimmered above, with the glow of the slowly setting sun. Those who came for a meal rolled inside whilst across the path and beyond a few pine trees a nervous cast began preparing themselves for their final performance.
8pm came just as quick as it had the previous nights, and as the nerves heightened within the costume and make up tents, the crowd now 130 strong began to make there way into the stable where the first scene would take place.

I looked to the sky to see yet again more rain clouds and prayed to god, myself and the cast would not have to experience once again the weather dramas from the nights before. 'Please God just let it clear up, just for another hour, just let us do the show, just this last one'The first scene ended as the crowd hastily made there way out onto the outside seating, as a few more spits of rain fell and my heart although tired still pounded with worry inside my chest.

The first scene began as night fell, with the sound of kookaburras ringing throughout the trees. Mum came up to my side and said 'I've checked the internet, it's all clearing, it's going to pass around us'.....I looked to mum and then back up to the sky unsure which one to believe. The clouds said 'Yes' but technology said 'No'.

It never rained, and we never had such a perfect performance as the final night. Everyone lifting to the occasion. What talented actors and musicians and dancers and singers.
God I was proud of you guys, what an absolutely amazing job you all did. As the night became darker and drew to an end, a lone fairy would Kneel beside a man on stage, nothing more. Simple very simple but oh so powerful as I turned to the crowd who had tears in their eyes.

What a crowd, what a cast.....what a night. 30 mins later I turned around to see an empty stand and empty chairs and behind me an empty stage with scattered leaves, silence, the original dream, the original vision and now forever a beautiful and treasured memory for all those who came to see it.

To all the cast and crew - WELL DONE, we did it despite the flies, moths, rain and mozzies. I know I will definately be auditioning for more plays in the future.
We should all be so proud of ourselves!!
I can't make it to the BBQ sadly because I have to work but if anyone wants to keep in touch my email is googy81@hotmail.com and I would also love copies of some/all of the photos.

I can't wait to see the DVD.

Congrats to you all - Love Mel (Ruby).
